The Special Investigations Unit has started an investigation into the death of a Peterborough man during an interaction with police.
On Friday at 2:15 p.m., police witnessed a vehicle being driven erratically on Parkhill Road and attempted to stop the vehicle. Shortly after police encountered the vehicle, it was involved in a single vehicle accident.
The driver, a 28-year-old man entered the Peterborough Volkswagen dealership and had some interaction with staff before police entered the building. The man, who appeared to be armed, then consumed some type of substance before passing out with no vital signs. First aid was administered immediately but the man was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Four investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.
