Salvation Army has announced that construction of phase three of its expansion of the Belleville Citadel on Bridge Street is expected to start August 8.
Construction on the exterior of the building is set to be completed by the end of December 2023 while interior work is expected to be completed by spring of 2024.
In a release, Salvation Army says the expansion is a ” direct result of the growing demand of support and the need for a larger space to deliver enhanced programs and services that will help individuals and families find a way out of poverty permanently.”
They note that there will be “minor increases” to traffic and noise during normal business hours and that the Salvation Army will work with community members and the construction team to limit any significant disruptions during the timeline of construction.
More information on the expansion can be found at Salvation Army Belleville’s website.
The total cost of the expansion is $2.7 million.
