The second Belleville Caribbean festival is expected to be bigger and better than ever.
More vendors and more entertainers are expected and attendance could be as high as 8,000 people.
Co-chair of the Caribbean Festival Organizing Committee, Sean Kelly, says a parade will also be taking place.
“We’re expecting our parade to be the real energy builder for the day,” Kelly tells Quinte News. “We’re expecting 500 dancers to be a part of it in masks, so it’s going to be a beautiful celebration to at least kick off the Caribbean festival.”
The parade is expected to leave the Quinte Consolidated Courthouse and move through the downtown.
A bigger festival planned for this year brings work to improve on the inaugural festival.
Kelly says there will be plenty of food at the event after it sold out quickly at last year’s event.
“Last year, we ran out of food by late afternoon. We just didn’t anticipate such a huge crowd,” Kelly said. “I can assure you we will have lots of food for the city’s Caribbean Festival in downtown Belleville.”
Front Street will be closed from Campbell Street to Bridge Street and Campbell Street itself will be closed on the day of the festival.
The Belleville Caribbean Festival will take place on Saturday, August 19 from noon until 11 p.m.
