Prince Edward County Council is calling for a more generous Canada Child Benefit to help address food insecurity.
During Tuesday’s council session, Councillor Bill Roberts tabled the motion for council to support expansions to the benefit, citing statistics that show one in three children in Prince Edward County, and one in four nationwide live in food insecure households.
The motion called for the council to express support for a more generous Canada Child Benefit, but no other action was to be taken.
The motion passed without debate.
