Referring to the professional misconduct allegations against former Director of Education Sean Monteith, the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board calls them “concerning and disappointing.”
The Ontario College of Teachers announced that it will be holding a disciplinary hearing for Monteith.
According to the notice issued by the Discipline Committee of the College, Monteith is alleged to be guilty of professional misconduct between in, or about, September 2019 and in, or about, September 2020, while employed by Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board.
It is alleged that Monteith used the board’s corporate credit card and/or sought and/or received reimbursement from the board for expenses that were personal in nature and/or in relation to policies.
School Board Chair Shannon Binder says, “This matter is concerning and disappointing and will remain to be taken seriously as we continue to cooperate fully with the Ontario College of Teachers.”

Earlier today, the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) announced that it will be holding a disciplinary hearing for Sean Norman Gary Monteith.
According to the notice issued by the Discipline Committee of the OCT, Sean Norman Gary Monteith is alleged to be guilty of professional misconduct between in or about September 2019 and in or about September 2020 while employed by Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board (HPEDSB) as the Director of Education. It is alleged that Mr. Monteith used the HPEDSB corporate credit card and/or sought and/or received reimbursement from HPEDSB for expenses that were personal in nature and/or in violation of HPEDSB policies.
