Belleville council is expected to approve a few important equipment purchases at its meeting at 4 o’clock Monday afternoon at City Hall.
Staff is recommending council approve the purchase of two electric Zamboni ice cleaners from the Zamboni Company at a cost of just over $304,000.
Currently, a 2003 and a 2008 Zamboni are being used and are breaking down on a regular basis.
The two new machines have been included in this year’s budget.
And Belleville council will be asked to add to its arsenal of trash collecting equipment.
Staff is recommending council approve the purchase of a marine trash collection drone to be operated in Victoria Park and Harbour and Meyers Pier.
The marine robot comes from Poralu Marine Canada at a cost of almost $101,000. The money is included in this year’s budget.
The city already has two marine trash collectors working the harbours along with 21 so-called Litta Traps stopping garbage from getting into catch basins.
Upgrades continue to Belleville’s Hillcrest Park.
At its meeting, council will be asked to approve a tender to build two “3 on 3” basketball courts in the park.
Staff is recommending the low bid of almost $145,000 from Court Surface Specialists be accepted.
The courts will be part of Phase 2 of Hillcrest Park’s redevelopment joining pickleball courts, a skate dot, trails, and lighting.
