Lennox & Addington OPP laid more than 400 charges during the Canada Day Road Safety Week traffic campaign, most of them for speeding.
The public education and enforcement campaign took place from June 24 through July 2.
Police laid 246 speeding charges and six stunt driving charges.
There were also six impaired driving charges, seven other Criminal Code traffic charges, 30 seatbelt charges, 23 Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act charges, eight personal flotation device charges, one Canada shipping Act – Small Vessel Regulations charge, one Liquor Licence Act charge, three Cannabis Control Act charges and 73 other Provincial Traffic charges.
OPP say they will continue to increase presence on the highways and waterways throughout the summer months to deliver on its Provincial Traffic Safety Program, which incorporates high police visibility, measurable outcomes, professional traffic stops and public education into their efforts to save lives on Ontario roads, trails and waterways.
