A deal four years in the making is now coming to a close as the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board has approved the sale of the former Queen Elizabeth School in Picton to Prince Edward County.
Prince Edward County has been attempting to purchase the property with plans to convert the 4.76 acre parcel of land into affordable housing.
Prince Edward County Council recently approved and made an offer of $1,375,000 to buy the property.
Prince Edward County’s plans for the property include both affordable housing units, and also space for social services to set up and operate from the complex to assist both those living there and the surrounding community.
