A group led by Toronto-based businessman Michael Andlauer has reached an agreement in principle to purchase the Ottawa and Belleville Senators for close to $1 billion U.S.
Andlauer is the sole owner of the Ontario Hockey League’s Hamilton Bulldogs. Andlauer purchased the Bulldogs from Gord Simmonds, when they were the Belleville Bulls.
Andlauer was a former minority owner of the Montreal Canadiens.
Senators owner Eugene Melnyk died of an undisclosed illness in March 2022.
Quinte News has contacted the Belleville Senators organization for comment as they have indicated more information will be coming in the following hours and days.
