Forty–five athletes from East Northumberland Secondary School competed at the East Regional Track and Field Championship, in Ottawa, on Thursday and Friday.
Two relay teams and three individuals in four events finished in the top four and earned spots to compete at next week’s OFSAA championship, in Ottawa.
The senior boys’ 4 x 100 m relay team of Malcolm Whittle, Zaid Wedderburn–Harper, Brayden Clark,
and Aidan Fairbank won the East Regional championship in a time of 43.85 s.
Zack Flatt was second in senior shot put (12.89 m) and fourth in discus (36.37 m).
Aidan Molenhuis finished third in senior high jump (1.80 m).
Jawin Jeyapirakas was third in novice boys’ 300 m hurdles (44.79 s).
The ENSS novice girls’ relay team – Kate Andrews, Azariyah Barnes, Phoebe Mooney, and Emma Corkery – was third (53.16 s).
