The demand for more workers continues in the Quinte region.
Last year there were more than 2,000 job vacancies in the Quinte region.
This year, it may not be that bad but there is still a demand for workers.
The Quinte Economic Development Commission held its meeting outdoors at King Edward Park in Brighton on Thursday.
CEO Chris King told Quinte News there are still companies trying to find people to work for them.
He says it’s not as easy as it used to be.
King pointed to the work the three municipalities, Belleville, Quinte West and Brighton are doing in their industrial parks.
He says the two local organizations connected with employment in the Quinte area are planning to tour the area.
“We’re getting a bus tour across Brighton, Quinte West, and Belleville and do a few business tours and meet business folks and do a hop on, hop off with people taking about their projects. It’s just to kind of put a face to the name and a place to the story that we talk about.”
The Boards of Directors for Trenval and the Quinte Economic Development Commission will take a bus tour.
King tells Quinte News the idea is to have the members see some of the new developments.
The tour takes place June 20.
“You think about the importance of manufacturing … then we’ve had a number of really successful projects and land sales happening in the area.
“In North Murray Industrial Park in Quinte West, there’s a lot of activity. Some land sales. Lot of construction going on there. In Belleville you see expansions of Vision Transportation and the Amazon project.”
