First Nations Technical Institute on the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory has received a major donation for its flight school.
CAE, an aviation technology company, has donated $160,000 to the school to support pilot training and enhance the skill sets of students.
With the investment, FNTI, the only Indigenous flight school of its kind in Canada, plans on acquiring Garmin G1000 training suites and training aids.
CAE’s CEO and President Marc Parent says the company is delighted to partner with FNTI to help further diversity in the aviation industry.
FNTI President Suzanne Brant says they are very grateful for the support as they continue to rebuild their infrastructure after their hangar and planes were destroyed by fire in February 2022.
