Facing traffic charges
Around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, a Belleville police officer stopped a motorist on Sidney Street for a cell phone violation. Further investigation revealed the driver had no insurance. The 33-year-old was charged with using a hand-held device while driving and operating a vehicle without insurance. He was issued a July court date in traffic court.
Arrest following traffic stop
A traffic stop led to the arrest of a 38-year-old Kingston female, Wednesday evening. The incident occurred at 9:50 p.m. when an officer pulled over a vehicle on Dundas St. West for a traffic violation. An investigation revealed the female passenger was currently on drug-related charges and had been released from custody on specific conditions of an undertaking. One of the conditions was to obey a curfew and be inside her Kingston residence between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. daily. She was arrested and held for a bail hearing May 18, 2023.
Driving complaint leads to impaired driver
A call from the public regarding an erratic driver ended with the arrest of a 33-year-old man on impaired driving charges, Wednesday. Police received a complaint at 10:40 p.m. of a motorist driving erratically on Bridge Street West. Officers responding to the call located the vehicle on College Street West and performed a traffic stop. An investigation ascertained the motorist was impaired. Charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80 is Joshua Maracle of Belleville. Maracle was released with a June 15 court date.
