An individual was charged with sexual assault following a traffic stop in Prince Edward County.
On May 9, just before 10:30 p.m., OPP were conducting a RIDE program on Highway 62 near Rossmore when they observed a vehicle that appeared to avoid officers.
A traffic stop was conducted and an officer observed an incapacitated female passenger in distress.
Further investigation led to the arrest of the driver, a 23-year-old from Belleville, on a charge of sexual assault.
The accused was held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
The investigation remains ongoing.
