The Salvation Army Belleville wants to clear up any concerns about plans to expand its Bridge Street West location.
The expansion plans for its church and dining hall include a bigger kitchen and dining area that would allow it to offer meal programs and a food bank as it currently does at its Pinnacle Street facility.
The Pinnacle Street location will close when the Bridge Street expansion is complete.
No rezoning is required as the property at Bridge Street and Palmer Road is already zoned Community Facility.
The Army has already applied for a building permit.
Some concerned residents have been circulating a petition opposing the plans because of worries over increased noise, vandalism and traffic.
In a statement to Quinte News, Salvation Army Divisional Secretary for Public Relations, Glenn van Gulik says the local Salvation Army will host an Open House and Information Session in the coming weeks where the community can learn more about the project and ask questions.
He says they look forward to bringing transformational programming and continuing to serve the Belleville community, and, as good neighbours, want to assure residents that all their questions will be addressed.
They will also continue to communicate plans as they unfold.
Details on a time and date for the meeting will be revealed soon.
