Prince Edward County OPP have arrested two people after a high speed chase on Wednesday.
Just before 2:30 p.m., police attempted to stop a vehicle on County Road 49 in connection with a drug investigation. The driver fled from police and drove away in a dangerous manner.
Police attempted to use a spike strip to stop the vehicle but were unsuccessful. The vehicle was later found abandoned in the woods off Valley Road.
Two suspects were found at a nearby residence with help from the East Region Canine unit and East Region Community Street Crime Unit. As part of the investigation, officers found a loaded handgun, high capacity magazine, handcuffs, suspected cocaine, Canadian currency and drug paraphernalia.
Cedric Agard, a 28-year-old Toronto man and Kiersha White, a 33-year-old from Deseronto were both arrested for multiple charges including;
- Carrying concealed weapon
- Possession for dangerous purpose
- Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
- Unauthorized possession of firearm
- Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court – four counts
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
- Possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
- Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
Agard was also charged with flight from a police officer, dangerous operation and possession of a firearm against a probation order.
Both were held in custody for a bail hearing on Thursday.
