Parking in the wrong place in Prince Edward County this summer could net you a hefty fine, though not as severe as last year.
Prince Edward County council has updated the parking by-law to change some of the fines associated with parking in no parking zones. The changes are being made to support the 2023 tourism management plan.
The changes have a focus on high tourism areas with the coming tourism season. While fines for illegal parking around Sandbanks and North Beach provincial parks will remain at $400, all other seasonal no parking zones are having their fines reduced to $100.
The PEC Summer Pass program is also returning this year. Passes issued in 2022 are still considered valid.
The pass will allow residents access to dedicated parking on Hyuck’s Point Road and Bakker Road.
Parking at boat launches will require payment this summer, except on weekends or holidays.
Parking around Picton Town Hall is also being altered to accommodate additional space for the farmer’s market.
