Northumberland OPP and the Ministry of Transportation are working together to conduct a joint traffic safety initiative on Highway 401.
Starting this Friday, March 31, the #SafeTravels401 initiative will see officers focusing their efforts on speeding, seat belts, distracted driving, impaired driving, and Commercial Motor Vehicle enforcement along the 70 km of highway that runs through Northumberland County.
Police say excessive speeds and distracted driving continue to threaten the safety all road users.
Motorists are asked to slow down, drive cautiously, courteously and report dangerous drivers to OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or 9-1-1 in emergency.
