There were OJHL wins for the Trenton Golden Hawks and Wellington Dukes on Sunday.
In Trenton, Matt Cato and Zev Podolski scored first period goals while Ben Bonisteel stopped 15 shots to carry the Golden Hawks over the Aurora Tigers 4-1.
Cato scored twice and has 25 goals along with 25 assists in 36 games.
Ryan Holmes rounded out the scoring with an empty netter.
The Golden Hawks next play Saturday in Toronto against the Patriots.
Wellington 4 Haliburton 3
The Wellington Dukes have moved up a notch in the OJHL’s South East Conference standings following Sunday’s 4-3 win over the visiting Haliburton Huskies.
Stirling’s Luke LaPalm scored twice including the winner at 16:32 of the third period. LaPalm has 20 for the season.
Ryan Cutler and Jacob Vreugdenhil also scored for Wellington as they push past Cobourg into third place in the South-East Conference. That sets up a showdown Monday night when Wellington takes on the Cougars in Cobourg.
Russell “trick” carries Jets over Raiders
Eric Russell rounded out his hat trick at 3:41 of overtime as the Amherstview Jets cooled down the first place Napanee Raiders 4-3.
Napanee continues to hold a comfortable lead atop the Provincial Junior C East Tod Division with 53 points. The Jets are in second place with 39.
