The Belleville Senators dug themselves a three goal hole by the midway point of the second period and couldn’t climb out falling 4-2 to the Toronto Marlies in front of their biggest crowd of the year at CAA Arena.
More than 4100 took in the game and saw a spirited effort by Belleville which included outshooting the Marlies 14-2 in the third but couldn’t find the back of the net. Overall Belleville outshot Toronto 38-33 but Marlies goaltender Joseph Woll was the difference.
Jarid Lukosevicius scored a goal and assist for the B-Sens.
Scott Sabourin added his eighth of the season with 15 seconds left in the game.
Belleville begins a four-game road trip Friday night in Rochester against the Americans (Buffalo Sabres).
