Wellington Dukes goaltender Ethan Morrow and forward Matheson Mason and forward Matthew Cato of the Trenton Golden Hawks are among the 32 players invited to the Canada East selection camp for the upcoming World Junior “A” Hockey Challenge in Cornwall.
Team East is comprised of players selected from the Ontario Junior Hockey League, the Northern Ontario Jr. League, Central Canadian Hockey League, Quebec and the Maritime Hockey League.
The five team international tournament includes a Team from Canada West, the United States, Sweden and Latvia.
The Latvian entry will be its National Junior team as it prepares for the World Junior Hockey Championships in Halifax and Moncton over Christmas.
The local connection for Team Canada East does not end with the players.
Wellington Dukes coach Derek Smith is an assistant on Billy McGuigan’s staff and Leah Toffelmire of the Dukes has been selected as the team’s Athletic Therapist.
The final roster will be named on December 7th following the three day selection camp in Cornwall.
Canada East will play their first game against Latvia on Sunday December 11th.
