In local Junior A hockey, the Wellington Dukes shot down the Trenton Golden Hawks 5 to 3 at Duncan Memorial Arena on Friday.
The Dukes nabbed an early lead with two unanswered goals in the first period, before the Golden Hawks came back in the second period to claim two unanswered goals of their own.
In the third period however, the Dukes claimed three goals, to the Golden Hawks’ one, and took home both victory over their Quinte region rival, but a round two victory in the Hasty P cup.
Meanwhile in local Junior C hockey, the Picton Pirates plundered the Napanee Raiders 3 to 1, breaking the Raiders’ 16-game winning streak, and handing the team their first loss of the season.
Neither team was able to claim a goal in the first period, but in the second period the Raiders got on the board first, followed by two goals from the Pirates. The Pirates scored again in the third period, ensuring that even when the Raiders claimed a second goal they wouldn’t give up the lead and took the game.
