QRD WEEKLY REPORT – Oct. 10/22
The McInroy Maines U18 Quinte Red Devils added another point in regular play and went 3-0 in Aurora at the SAC Showcase.
The U18s hosted their home opener at QSWC this past week when they faced off against the Oshawa Generals. It was the Generals who started the scoring with a goal in the first, but the Devils matched their pace and evened the score in the second. With a shot from Thomas Elkins, assisted by Trent Williams and Joey Coates it was a 1-1 game. In the dying seconds of the game the Devils netted a shot in the Generals’ end. Unfortunately for Quinte the goal was called back and they settled for the tie and single point in regular season.
Over the weekend the team took to the road to Aurora to compete in an exhibition series at St. Andrew’s College. Game one on Friday had the Devils lined up against Southern Tier Admirals. QRD skated to a solid win to start the weekend with a 5-2 victory. Goals came from McKee (2), Vreugdenhil (2) and Kuipers. Spry in net. Saturday morning was an early game against the hosting St. Andrew’s College. Quinte was heavy on the offensive end of the game and took a strong finish of 7-0. McInnes in net with scoring from Elkins, Kuipers, Butcher (3), Wooley and Coates. The final game of the day was a match up against Ontario Hockey Academy. OHA gave the Devils a tough battle early on but it was the Devils who dominated the end of the game to take their third win of the weekend with a score of 4-2. Scoring for QRD was Elkins (3) and Butcher. Spry in net for the win.
ON DECK: This week the McInroy Maines U18s will host the Whitby Wildcats at RCAF Arena at 8pm on Wednesday before they head to Ottawa for the Sens Tournament.
U16 Pita Pit Quinte Red Devils Go 6-2-1 in Exhibition and Tournament Play
This past weekend, the U16 Pita Pit Quinte Red Devils headed to London to participate in the Wendy Dufton Tournament. They started the weekend off strong with 3 wins. They beat the Kelowna Rink Academy 3-0. Reece Herman had the shutout and goals were scored by Parker Fergusson, Avery Wease and Zack Carrier. Next up was a 4-2 win against the Burlington Eagles. Liam Boyer protected the pipes and goals were scored by Wease, Deke Osterhout, Evan Erwin and Carrier. The Red Devils then took on the Richmond Hill Coyotes and Herman had another superb shutout for a 3-0 win. Goals were scored by Mason Boyer, Jack Pixley and Fergusson. The Red Devils were in tough on Saturday with a loss against the Huron Perth Lakers 4-0 (Boyer was in nets). Later in the day, the Red Devils had a 3-1 loss ending the tournament. Herman was in nets and the Red Devils only goal was scored by Erwin.
In exhibition play, The U16 Pita Pit Quinte Red Devils beat the Clarington Toros 6-1 on the road. With Herman in nets and goals from Carrier (3), Wease, Mason Musclow and Osterhaut. The Red Devils then took on the Toros at home and came out on top again with a 3-2 win. Boyer protected the net and goals were scored by Carrier, Pixley and Fergusson.
Next up, the U16 Pita Pit Quinte Red Devils travelled to Peterborough to take on the Petes. The game ended in 1-1 with Herman holding the game to a tie in nets and Wease had the only goal. The last game of exhibition play was against the Oshawa Generals and the Red Devils pulled off a 5-1 win. Boyer protected the net and goals were scored by Erwin (2), Ben Sherwin, Fergusson and Carrier.
ON DECK: Regular season play begins next weekend when the Red Devils travel to Barrie to take on the Colts and then on Sunday play the North Central Predators. Good luck Red Devils!!!
The U15 Free Flow Petroleum Red Devils Drop their Opening Contest Against Barrie on the Weekend
The Barrie Jr. Colts visited QSWC on Saturday to put 6 goals past the home team. Quinte scored twice in the contest, with Jake Campbell finding the twine at 5:59 in the second (Liam Campbell and Jack Foley) and again in the third as Jacob Moore found the back of the net (Ryan Kinghan and Noah Lesser). Katste Brant took the loss in net.
ON DECK: The U15 Devils are on the road this week, Tuesday Oct. 11th traveling to Kingston for an 8:30pm game against the Jr. Gaels at Invista. Friday night they travel to Innisfil for a much-anticipated rematch against the Barrie Jr. Colts, followed by a Saturday evening contest against the North Central Predators.
The Environment 360 Solutions U14s Devils Down Ajax-Pickering 3-2
The Quinte E360S U14 Red Devils got two goals from Nate Rashotte and solid goaltending from Lily Reid in a 3-2 win over the Ajax-Pickering Raiders on Saturday.
Henry Fisher scored the winning goal on the power play with 5 minutes remaining while Cole Rowat, Ty Leavitt, Cole Coughlin, Isaac Tracze, Seth Scaletta and Mac Chisholm picked up assists.
Devils of the Day were Pierson Clute and Henry Fisher.
ON DECK: The U14s are off until next weekend when they attend the Peterborough IceFest tournament.
Gillespie’s Tree Service QRD U13s Take 3 of 4 Points in Weekend Double Header
On Saturday October 8th, the Gillespie’s Tree Service QRD U13 AAA team travelled to Barrie to face the defending OMHA Champions. It is one of three contests in the Month of October against Barrie.
Ryerson Swan started in goal for QRD and was outstanding. Barrie started out with a 1-0 lead with a late goal in the first. At the 7:26 mark of the second period Trent Clow walked out of the corner and would snap one by the Barrie netminder to tie the game. Late in the second Andrew Laurin scored with assists going to Lauchlan Whelan and Brechyn Aird, to take a 2-1 lead.
Near the end of the second Barrie stole the puck and tied it up. Whelan then put the go-ahead goal past the Barrie netminder with a great pass from Andrew Dewar.
Unfortunately late in the third, Barrie scored to tie the game, as it ended in a 3-3 tie.
The Quinte Red Devils ended their weekend double header against the North Central Predators in Rama. The game would start off slow with both teams having various chances around the net but finally in the late stages of the first frame Aird would find the back of the net for QRD with assists coming from Whelan, Ewan Dahle. The second period got off to a quick start for QRD potting a pair of goals within the first 2 minutes of the period, scored by Jax Martin (Unassisted) and Aird got his second of the contest, with assists to Mauve Aird, Clow. Later in the second the Red Devils would open up the floodgates and score three power play goals all within a minute apart, Martin would get his second of the game with contributions coming from Coen Lowry, Dahle, just 34 seconds after Liam Marion would get in on the action scoring the fifth goal of the game for Quinte, assists from Joey Seguin, Ryder Hooey, 18 seconds later Whelan joins the fun adding a tally of his own to make it 6-0, Laurin, Easton Thompson with the contributions on the goal. To finish off the second period QRD would keep the foot on the pedal putting another past the Preds goalie, scored by Clow. Seguin, Aird would add to the goal with assists. The Red Devils would go into the third period with a comfortable lead but would stick to the game plan and that would reward them with two more goals to finish off the afternoon, those would come from Lowry and Clow would collect his second of the game, assists would be awarded to Martin, Marion, Seguin. All in all, it was a stellar defensive game by Quinte as the Red Devils goalie Nathan Ferriss would pick up his second shutout in as many games.
ON DECK: October 15th @ Barrie Jr. Colts, 2:00pm and October 16th @Ajax-Pickering Raiders, 2:00pm
The Bonn Law QRD U12 Red Devils hosted The Barrie Colts this weekend in their first league game of the season.
The Devils got off to a slow start and found themselves down 1-0 after the first period. The team bounced back quickly in the second period and went on to score 8 unanswered goals in an 8-1 win.
Jaxson Plummer scored a hat trick in the game and was named player of the game. Also lighting the lamp for The Devils was Oliver McCulloch (2), Noah Hughes, Miller Nicholson and Brody Grant. Assisting on the goals; Nicholson (2), Mason Whalen, James Gullage, Plummer, Cameron Stevens (2), Shea Teather and Plummer. Dax Sage was solid in net for the win.
ON DECK: Wednesday Oct 12th vs Clarington @ CAA Arena, followed by The Peterborough Icefest Tournament, starting Thursday.
The Madison Excavating QRD U11 Red Devils Win their Home Opener
It was an exciting weekend for The Madison Excavating QRD U11s, as they played their home opener on Saturday in Belleville, hosting the North Central Predators. While the first period ended without any goals on either side, that would quickly change in periods two and three. QRD showed no mercy, scoring eight goals in the latter portion of the game, with a final victory of 8-1. Ben Larmer made his debut with the team and put forth a stellar effort to secure the win.
QRD Goal Scorers: Kade Osterhout (x 2), Everett Brown, Dylan Chalk, Robbie Robinson, Max Bucknell, Blake McManus, and Jack Seeney.
The Madison Excavating QRD U11s then traveled to Clarington on Sunday to challenge the Clarington Toros. The Toros came ready to play, scoring the first two goals of the game. QRD found themselves in a tight battle with the Toros, but refused to back down without a fight. The third period saw QRD score two goals in an effort to sway the game back in their favour. The team worked hard, but they had an unfortunate loss, the final score being 4-2. Regardless, QRD’s excellent teamwork and determination helped to keep the game close. Goaltender, Hayden Tripp, demonstrated a strong effort between the pipes in his first start of the year.

“It was very fun to be back in competitive games this weekend. We found ways to score goals and also gained experience in a real tight game. I am very proud of our start and our good habits to start the year.”
ON DECK: Next weekend, the team travels to London October 14-16 for the Drew Doughty Tournament.
The Foley Bus Lines U10 Red Devils win their second game of the year
The Quinte U10 Red Devils faced off against Whitby in their second regular season game of the year. The first period was a back-and-forth battle as both teams were held scoreless.
Early in the second period Quinte was on the power play and Matt Dawson blasted a shot from the point with the assists going to Mac Brown and Evan Andrews. Two minutes later Whitby would score to make it a 1-1 tie. That would be the score after the second period.
Three minutes into the third period Max Norton would score from the slot, with assists going to Noah Gilchrist and Andrews, followed shortly by a goal from Andrews on a pass from Gilchrist, making it 3-1 for Quinte. That was all that was needed to make the final 3-1 for Quinte.
Player of the game was Quinte goalie Blake Laurin for an outstanding performance between the pipes.
ON DECK: Next weekend the team travels to London to play in the Drew Doughty Ronald McDonald House Invitational. The Foley Bus Lines Red Devils face off Friday vs the Toronto Young Nationals @ 10:45AM and vs. the Waterloo Wolves @ 3:45PM. Saturday, the team plays the Toronto Titans @ 10:15AM and the Guelph Gryphons @ 4:15PM.
