The Wellington Dukes have put their leadership in place ahead of training camp this weekend.
Belleville native Jacob Vreugdenhil has been named captain of the Ontario Junior Hockey League club.
The Quinte Red Devils graduate enters his fifth season with Wellington.
Dukes Head Coach/GM Derek Smith said naming Vreugdenhil captain was a “no brainer.” Smith added that his commitment to being the best person and player he can be every day is what makes him the great leader he is.
In a press release Vreugdenhil said, “It’s an honour to be named captain of such a great organization. I’m really excited for this year. We have a great group of guys here and I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish this year.”
The Dukes’ first exhibition game is Monday in Cobourg.
