Twelve people on a wilderness canoe trip were very happy to see a 424 Squadron Hercules aircraft heading toward their location along a river southeast of Moosonee in the Hudson Bay region.
The canoeists had been scared away from their camp by a bear and called for help.

8 Wing Trenton’s Joint Rescue Coordination Centre had SAR techs parachute to the ground to help the people get hoisted up into a Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry helicopter.
All of them were safely evacuated to Moosonee.
