There’s good news, at least for a while, for a program providing primary medical care to patients who have been without a family doctor.
The province had funded a six-month pilot project in which the Belleville Nurse Practitioner Clinic and the Gateway Community Health Centre provided virtual care to 1,200 so-called unattached patients.
The funding for the program was to have ended at the end of June but, at a meeting of Belleville council on Monday, Councillor Sean Kelly announced that he’d discussed the matter with Bay of Quinte riding MPP Todd Smith and the program’s funding was extended for at least three months.
