Quinte Health Care’s management has been planning ahead for the coming cold winter months.
It’s expected that the winter will feature a normal flu season and another surge in COVID-19 cases.
QHC continues its mandatory mask policy through the cold months and until further notice suggests that masks are a simple but effective tool against the spread of infection.
QHC will have a COVID management team monitoring cases of COVID and influenza with proactive ramp-up plans in place for increased infection control measures.
Also, the pandemic management plan includes an update on its care partner visiting policy which will allow more people at a patient’s bedside, but not to pre-pandemic levels.
Volunteer activities are expected to continue this winter with appropriate supports for infection control. In-person activities will be allowed as long as people wear masks and remain at least one metre apart.
