Two of Belleville Transit’s operators were recognized by transit management and city council Monday.
Transit Operations Manager Paul Buck introduced two of the system’s drivers to council.
Mike Passailaigue was honoured for caring for a woman he spotted falling from a bicycle on Bridge Street East. He parked his bus, called 911 and comforted the woman until paramedics arrived. On top of that, he ensured the bicycle was returned to her home.
The woman continues to recover from her injuries.
Meanwhile Chris Ladoucier received recognition for spotting a fire under a tree near the Quinte Consolidated Courthouse.
Not only did he call the fire department he used his bus’s fire extinguisher to bring the small fire under control.
