Organizers of the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event are postponing the fundraiser until later this year.
The fundraiser for Three Oaks Foundation was operating with a different format this year, allowing people to do the walk on their own or in small groups on their own time over the last two weeks of June.
There was to be a main event June 29 however the entire affair has been moved to September 24.
Three Oaks’ Kaitlyn Chapman says they’ve had a lack of response so they’re going to revisit how they’ll be running it.
She thinks people are ready for more in-person events.
“We really want to honour it and execute it properly. And have more participants. On September 24, we’re gonna host it on a Saturday and more people can attend. And execute some more ideas to have more people.”
The walk, which is a major fundraiser for Three Oaks women’s shelter and has been very popular in the past, hasn’t been held since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chapman says they have had a great response from several service groups like police and fire departments but are hoping to also attract more of the general public who have traditionally supported the event.
