The Belleville General Hospital Foundation received a boost to its fundraising campaign on Tuesday, from Hastings County.
During a meeting of the county’s Finance, Property and Personnel Committee, the county presented $500,000 to the campaign toward the purchase of a special camera for medical purposes.
Secretary and Director of the BGH Foundation Steve Cook said, “I think this year alone Quinte Health Care requires $6 million in replacement equipment alone. Many of you will know as well our capital intensive project is in the works at the moment, the expansion has been ongoing. “
“That will obviously help us to expand our care for the regional service here. Notably in oncology and hopefully save more lives of our peers and people across the area and across the region as well.”
“With these donations these amounts which we’ve now approved pushes us ever closer to our goal of $2.9 million…Hoping to go shortly to see those cameras and put into service within the next 12 months, for sure. Hugely appreciated donation.”
Cook added, “It’s been a difficult two years. Everybody knows, in term of the hospital, everyone is doing an exceptional job behind the scenes to care for the community at large. That extends down to the Foundation and equipment needs as well.

Warden Rick Phillips commented, “On behalf of Hastings County Council I’d like to thank Belleville General Hospital Foundation for their dedication in assisting the residents of our communities.”
“By ensuring that the hospital can provide exceptional care close to home at all times. In Hastings County we are dedicated to supporting people in our communities and the Belleville General Hospital Foundation certainly aligns with those values.”
