Two Quinte West residents were recognized for their efforts in volunteerism.
On Monday, Quinte West City Council presented the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers to distinguished Quinte West residents Alex McNaught and Kelly Scott.
Mayor Jim Harrison presented the medal on behalf of Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon.
McNaught, a local historian was honoured for his long-standing volunteerism in the community and for his efforts in the development of Wallbridge Park on Wallbridge Road, with the implementation of heritage plaques and stepping stones that residents can purchase, with proceeds going towards the park.
Scott, a well-known Quinte West coach in both hockey and currently serving as the Club President for the Quinte West Soccer Club, was honoured for his efforts in local volunteerism and his impact on youth in sports.
The Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers recognizes the exceptional volunteer achievements of Canadians from across the country in a wide range of fields.
