As part of its 55th convocation ceremonies, Loyalist College has awarded its Governor General’s Academic medal in recognition of exceptional academic achievement.
Julie Ann Harris, a graduate of computer systems technician program, received the award.
Harris graduated with an “outstanding academic record” and a cumulative average of 97.94%.
Loyalist College President and CEO Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan said, “Congratulations to Julie on this award of national significance. The Governor General’s Academic Medal is among the most prestigious honours that a student at a Canadian educational institution can receive. We are immensely proud of you for your tremendous resiliency and dedication to your studies. I look forward to seeing big things on your horizon as you harness your skills, passion and endless potential.”
The Collegiate Bronze Medal is awarded to the student who achieves the highest overall average upon graduation from a diploma-level, post-secondary program.
Harris said, “I feel the knowledge I’ve learned through my education at Loyalist will be invaluable as I pursue my chosen career path. I’m so grateful for all the support I received from my professors and fellow students, especially given the difficulty when it comes to teaching during a global pandemic. I’m looking forward to putting my new skills to use with a career in the information technology sector.”
