Belleville General Hospital and the BGH Auxiliary were finally able to celebrate in person, the more than $115,000 raised during the pandemic for hospital equipment.
Members of the Auxiliary and BGH posed for photos with the new equipment.
Appropriately enough, one of those new pieces is a Room Disinfectant Machine worth $63,000.
The sterilization machine, used primarily in the Emergency Department and ICU, uses a UV light and fine mist to disinfect.
Belleville General Hospital Auxiliary President Leah Johnson said, “The Room Disinfectant Machine couldn’t have been purchased and used at a better time. COVID patients were just starting to show up at the hospital and a machine to disinfect rooms and serve to help keep patients and staff safe during throughout the pandemic was an excellent use of the funds raised.”
A $52,000 Portable Ultrasound Machine is used on a daily basis in the Emergency Department to diagnose internal ailments and help avert some patients from needing to be transported for more intensive radiation tests.
The BGH Auxiliary raised funds with the help of its volunteers at the Aroma Café, Tuck/Gift Shop and Opportunity Shop even though it was forced to close periodically throughout the pandemic.
Expressing gratitude, QHC Vice President Susan Rowe said, “We thank each and every one of the Auxiliary volunteers and those who support the Auxiliary for their dedication and commitment to help provide exceptional care at QHC Belleville General Hospital.”
