On May 31, 2022, Belleville police were called to the area of Bethel Road in Thurlow, for an impaired driver. A vehicle had left the roadway and drove over lawns and some flower beds. The vehicle was located with extensive damage to the front end. As a result of the investigation, 67-year-old Allan Courneyea of Plainfield, was charged with refusing to provide a breath sample and driving while prohibited due to a previous conviction of impaired driving. Courneyea was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act for careless driving and driving while suspended. He was later released with a court date for July 7, 2022.
