It’s season opener 89 for the South Hastings Baseball League tonight.
The Tyendinaga Mudhens take on Uens Pole Line at 6:30 at the Jim Uens Field in Melrose.
Seven teams will compete this season in a league that began in 1933 and has played at least one game every year including through World War 2 and the current pandemic.
There will be 57 regular season games played this year, all of them in Melrose.
The Quinte Under 16s defeated Peterborough 25-21. Evan Fray scored three touchdowns and a two-point conversion.
The Skyhawks Under 18 team defeated Peterborough 36-7. Quinte quarterback Henry Walsh hit Isaiah Lockwood for a pair of touchdowns.
The home opener for both teams is this Saturday at Mary Ann Sills Park.
Jordan Poirier started in the seventh spot but took the lead on lap eight in the OSS race.In the Late Model Feature Charlie Sandercock led from the pole to the finish line for his first win of the season.Wade Purchase took the lead on lap two to claim his second career victory in the Canadian Modified feature.
Kraig Handley earned his first victory in the Thunder Stock Division while Chris Tufford scored a narrow win in the Mini Stock Feature.
