The Ontario Hockey League’s annual Priority Selection Draft starts Friday night with rounds one through three. And a trio of Quinte “AAA” Under 16s Red Devils might not have to wait long to hear their names.
Right shot defenceman Ben Danford of Madoc is expected to be among the top ten players selected. He is ranked anywhere from sixth to tenth overall. Danford was the captain of the Red Devils this season. Danford is an elite skater with an offensive touch. He scored seven goals and 22 points in 26 games.
Danford’s defence partner Braedyn Rogers of Belleville is expected to go early in the second round. Rogers is an offensive rearguard scoring 14 goals and 19 assists in 26 games.
And two-way centre Ethan Toms of Norwood is ranked late in the second round or early in the third. Toms scored 17 goals and 18 assists in 26 games for the Red Devils this season.
Rounds 4 through 15 will be held tomorrow.
