The results are in from voluntary census questionnaires filled out by students and staff with the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board last year.
Forty-six per cent of students and 59% of staff responded to the “This is Me in HPE” surveys.
Well over 90% of students and staff were born in Canada, identify as Canadians, and have English as their first language.
However, when it comes to religion there are differences. Just 20% of students identified as Christian compared to 49% of staff.
When questioned on sexual orientation, 61% of students from grades 5 through 12 identified as straight compared to 87% of staff.
Two surveys were distributed with the one for junior kindergarten to grade 4 students excluding questions on gender identity and sexual orientation.
Complete survey results can be found here in the school board’s agenda package.
