The Belleville Senators continued their push toward their first AHL playoff berth with a dramatic 5-4 victory over the visiting Toronto Marlies last night.
Rookie Viktor Lodin, playing in just his 7th AHL game scored twice including the winner with 1:19 left in the third period.
Lodin has scored four goals and an assist since joining Belleville after completing his season in the Swedish Hockey League. He is a fourth round pick of the Ottawa Senators in the 2019 NHL draft.
B-Sens Coach Troy Mann wasn’t happy with his team’s play after falling behind 2-0 in the first period.
Belleville responded with three goals in the second period which ended in a 3-3 tie.
Mark Kastelic, Cole Reinhardt and Lassi Thomson rounded out the scoring for Belleville. Nick Robertson scored twice for Toronto.
Belleville is on a season high five-game winning streak.
The Senators move into third place in the AHL North with three games to go. They’re in Syracuse tomorrow (Friday) then Toronto on Sunday. They close out the regular season at home on Saturday April 30 against the Marlies.
