A Toronto man has received the OPP Commissioner’s Citation for Lifesaving after he played a pivotal role in saving the the lives of three people at Sandbanks Provincial Park in July of 2019.
OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique presented the citation to Christopher Moore in a ceremony recently.
Moore, along with others, saved the lives of the men who found themselves struggling after stepping off a sandbar into very deep water at the Dunes beach. Moore pulled two of the men from the lake’s bottom, 12 metres down.
All three men survived although one was in a medically induced coma for eight days.
Others who helped both in the water and with CPR will be honoured in future.
