Canada is sending troops to Central Europe to help Ukrainian refugees.
Members of the Canadian Armed Forces are expected to leave for Poland Thursday to help some of the estimated 4.6 million Ukrainians who’ve fled their homes since Russia launched its bloody invasion on February 24.
The UN says 2.6 million of those refugees fled to Poland.
Defence Minister Anita Anand is set to announce the deployment of troops from CFB Trenton, in Ontario this morning.
A government source tells The Canadian Press the deployed members will assist with the care and coordination of Ukrainian refugees in Poland.
They will also help some leave there for other destinations.
