The Violence Awareness and Random Acts of Kindness (VARAK) Committee has named its Kindness Citizen of the Year and High School Kindness winner.
Sandy Rogers is this year’s Kindness Citizen of the Year.
VARAK Co-chair Pam Smith says, “I am absolutely thrilled that Sandy has won this award. I nominated her and I cannot think of anyone more deserving of the Kindness Citizen recognition.”
Sandy was nominated for her long time commitment to the Christmas Sharing Program as well as the Violence Awareness and Random Acts of Kindness Program where she has volunteered for over a decade.
Smith also went on to say, “Sandy and kindness are synonymous and we applaud her for this wonderful accomplishment.”
The High School Kindness Winner is Loren Vries of St. Paul Catholic Secondary School in Trenton.
Smith says the Grade 10 student is always eager to help and volunteer for activities in her school community.
Loren has a quiet and caring demeanor and is a great role model for her fellow students.
Loren won a new laptop computer and printer donated by the Quinte Mall.
