(Belleville Senators captain Logan Shaw)
The Belleville Senators have bounced back into an AHL playoff spot following an overtime win over the best team in the Eastern Conference.
Logan Shaw scored his second of the night at 3:27 of OT to give Belleville a 4-3 victory over the Utica Comets at the Adirondack Bank Centre.
Coupled with Rochester’s 6-2 loss to Laval, the B-Sens move ahead of the Americans into fifth place in the ultra tight North Division where mere percentage points separate second place from sixth.
Coach Troy Mann liked the way his team started.
Mann had particular praise for his leadership.
Igor Sokolov (18th) and Colby Williams (2nd) also scored and Filip Gustavsson turned away 27 shots.
These teams meet again tomorrow night (Friday) as the B-Sens open a four game homestand at the CAA Arena. Rochester is here on Saturday night.
