The hugely popular Kiwanis Walleye World fishing derby will be a no-go for a third straight year.
The Kiwanis Club of Trenton made the difficult decision out of an abundance of caution as the COVID-19 pandemic enters a sixth wave of infections.
Meanwhile, Quinte West’s Corporate Finance Committee is recommending council give the Kiwanis club another year to pay off a $32,000 loan the city gave it in 2020 when the derby was cancelled.
If council approves, the loan would be repayable in May of next year.
