As the province and the rest of the country begins to slowly open back up following two years of lockdowns, and capacity and gathering limits, Prince Edward County is taking another step towards moving forward.
Council voted 10-4 in favour of rescinding the mandatory vaccination of employees policy at their regular meeting on Tuesday night.
Councillor Bill Roberts said he hoped politics wasn’t trumping the best health care prudence they can provide.
Councillor Brad Nieman made an amendment to have the policy be effective on April 27, when the province lifts the remaining COVID-19 restrictions. That motion failed by a vote of nine to five.
In a recorded vote to approve the rescinding of the policy, councillors Jamie Forrester, Bill McMahon, Nieman and Roberts were the opposing votes.
