The Wellington Dukes strengthened their hold on second place in the OJHL East as they rallied to beat the St. Mikes Buzzers 5 – 3. Barret Joynt and David Campbell scored 51 seconds apart midway in the third period to wipe out a one goal deficit and give Wellington the lead. Campbell scored an empty netter to clinch the victory.
Jacob Vreugdenhill scored a goal and two assists while Mason Reeves added a single.
Wellington outshot St. Mikes 31 – 25. Ethan Morrow stopped 22 shots.
Wellington improves to 24 – 12 – 4 for 52 points. They trail the division-leading Trenton Golden Hawks by four points. Trenton has one game in hand.
The Dukes host Mississauga on Friday night.
