The Special Investigations Unit says there is no reason to lay criminal charges against an OPP officer after a man overdosed on drugs while in a holding cell at the Central Hastings detachment in Madoc.
A 44-year-old man had been pulled over by the officer for a driving infraction and was then charged with obstructing police last October.
He was taken into custody, placed in a cell and was being monitored.
While in custody he became unconscious and was given naloxone shots by officers. Paramedics took him to Campbellford Memorial Hospital where he was alert and aggressive with officers.
The man was later transferred to hospital in Peterborough.
