Maple lovers have something to look forward to next month.
Maple Madness PEC is returning again every weekend in March to celebrate everything maple.
This year’s event is much larger with 25 businesses participating, in comparison to four last year.
Rikki Edwards from Waupoos Estates Winery says this event was created last year because Maple in the County was cancelled because of COVID.
“Because Maple in the County was cancelled, a couple of businesses came together to still offer maple products, something for people to do. This is just a little bit more COVID friendly. It’s every weekend, people can go to different places.”
Edwards says there are a variety of businesses participating including sugar shacks, breweries, wineries, even a candle making company.
“Pretty much everybody who could participate in whatever area they’re in, they did,” Edwards told Quinte News. “It’s a little bit different than Maple in the County because you don’t have to be a designated sugar bush to participate, which gives more people places to go.”
“Here at Waupoos we’re doing a maple-themed brunch with different menu creations. I know a couple of breweries are doing a maple cream ale, different kinds of features. A lot of people are doing maple cocktails and then a lot of sugar bushes are selling their products as well.”
Edwards says most businesses are participating between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday, but recommends looking at each business’s Facebook page or the Maple Madness PEC Facebook page for specific hours.
She says Maple Madness PEC is family friendly and will be following COVID protocols.
