The chair of the Hastings Prince Edward Board of Health says there’s a gap in funding for certain health care.
Chair Jo-Anne Albert told a meeting of the board on Tuesday, “You’re teaching them up to when they’re 17 they’re getting the resources needed. But then there’s that gap up to 65. Dentistry is so expensive that … I hope the province would look at, as Dr. Toumishey (Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ethan Toumishey) said, a comprehensive overview of the oral health program.”
“And we need to be hitting everyone. We shouldn’t have gaps like that. We shouldn’t have a 47-year gap where people, you know, have to fight to get into a dentist.”
Albert added, “I would hope the province would look at a comprehensive overview of the oral health program.”
