The number of people being treated for COVID-19 in Quinte Health Care hospitals dropped considerably over the weekend.
On Friday, Hastings Prince Edward Public Health reported 33 people being in hospital with six of those being in intensive care.
Monday, that number was down to 17, with just four in the Intensive Care Unit.
The number of deaths from the illness since the pandemic began was unchanged from Friday, at 31.
Meanwhile, 103 new high risk cases were reported in the two counties Monday.
There are 656 active cases.
However the amount of virus transmission in the area will be higher due to stricter testing protocols.
As far as vaccinations are concerned in Hastings-Prince Edward 80% of the population five years of age and older have received two doses of vaccine while just over 42,000 people have received their booster shot.
In Northumberland Monday, 70 new cases were reported.
Active cases there are at 139.
