Belleville police responded to 183 calls for service over a 72-hour period between January 21, 2022 at 5 a.m. and January 24, 2022 at 5 a.m.
Mischief
On January 21, 2022 at 5:29 p.m., Belleville police received a mischief complaint in regards to damage to a motor vehicle. The vehicle was parked at a business on Bell Boulevard. The owner of the vehicle, who was an employee, reported that his tire had been slashed and his driver side door was keyed. There are no suspects at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Belleville Police Service.
Trespass by Night
On January 22, 2022 at 2:02 a.m., Belleville police, while on patrol, observed a vehicle acting in a suspicious manner at a business on Old Kingston Road. The driver of the vehicle was stopped and could not provide a valid reason for being on the property. As a result, 38t-year old Matthew Brant of Deseronto was charged with trespass by night and released with a court date of February 17, 2022.
Domestic Assault
On January 22, 2022 at 11:14 p.m., Belleville police were called to a Pine Street residence in regards to a domestic assault. Police spoke with a female on scene who advised that she was struck in the face by her boyfriend. The male left prior to police arrival but was located a short time later and arrested. As a result, the male, a 31-year-old Belleville resident was charged with assault and breach of probation. His name is not being released to protect the identity of the victim. He was later released with a court date of February 28, 2022.
Warrants
On January 23, 2022 at 7:28 p.m., Belleville police observed a vehicle on Cannifton Road that was wanted in connection with a robbery in Centre Hastings, Ontario. The vehicle was stopped on Highway 62 at Millennium Parkway. The wanted party was driving the vehicle and was subsequently arrested for robbery, forcible confinement, break and enter and theft under $5000. The 51-year-old male from Belleville was transported to Centre Hastings and turned over to the Ontario Provincial Police.
